Hot Chip vs. Xtina, Rihanna & Sean Paul in: 2006 Singles

Hot Chip

Some favorites aka, what keeps me tethered to reality:

Chamillionaire — “Ridin’ ” [Turf the yard or town square or local park if you like. Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals third baseman, uses this for his batting music. Pretty fucked.]
Rihanna — “S.O.S.”
Christina Aguilera — “Ain’t No Other Man”
Sean Paul — “Temperature” [Favorite census taker, ever.]
Destiny’s Child — “Check on It”
Hot Chip — “And I Was a Boy From School” [Don’t tell Notwist or Junior Boys.]
Ghostface — “Kilo”
Cat Power — “The Greatest”
Gnarls Barkley — “Crazy”
Beyonce w/ Jay Z — “Deja Vu”
[Unrelated: Is Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” the new “All Night Long”? Everytime I hear it I’m thinking Lionel Richie would be all over this.]

  1. Thanks. Yeah, this isn’t a hierarchical list by any means. I’m guessing that some of these, notably “Deja Vu” won’t stick around until year’s end. But double yeah, when Gnarls Barkley got plastered over everything from blogs to ‘XPN, it kinda lost its lustre.
