First world problems, I’ve got ’em.

Which new iPod? Gizmodo wrestles with the options and comes to the conclusion that standing pat is the way to go. But they have a 60 gig video iPod. I still have my functional but weathered black and white 20G from ’04. I know, it should be in a museum as it still works, still holds charge and sounds just about as crappy as any mp3 player will. I can faintly hear Momus’ words [I think he wrote it] that in the near term we’d all have old, yet functional iPods in our nightstand drawers collecting dust. That time has arrived for me.

But here’s the kicker: I’m making the jump to a Macbook this weekend and my wife is using her student ID to get the discount plus the $199 rebate that can be used for any iPod. That’d make the new iPhone $100 bucks after the price drop, adding a wrinkle to the proceedings. I need a new phone too!

Help me make my decision in the comments.

Addendum: I got totally pwned by the FAQs. Turns out it only applies to the old nano and 30G video iPods. Now I’m thinking iPod nano, just for knocking around during workouts.
