A few quick updates in the my post-run haze:
- I’ve been notified that my favorite affordable eatery in New York City, Burritoville, has closed unceremoniously. I grieve the loss as it not only offered sustenance, but a convenient meeting place on the rare occasion I visited the city. RIP. [via Nervous Acid]
- The new Drones album leaked. I wish I had a sense of what Australians think of this band. Are they the new Midnight Oil and I just don’t know it? (“The Drifting Housewive” sounds suspiciously like “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.” Sayin’.)
- I wish I could ditto everything published on Ad-Supported Music Central. The music industry could use more agnostics like Marc Cohen. It’d save me from bashing my head against the wall every time I meet another Web 2.0 enthusiast.
- I need to see Burn After Reading. The reviews are so delightfully mixed that I know it’s not to be missed.
- Django closed. It’s sad to admit, but that restaurant was like the Holy Grail when I was making less than $8 an hour at TLA Video, right across the street. I’m glad I took Helen there once. The cheese plate was nice.
- I still love when TLA Releases get panned.
- My friend Bryan up and moved back to Pittsburgh. I didn’t see him often enough after we both changed jobs, but now Helen and I have a good excuse for a hyper-miled road trip to western Pennsylvania.
- Girish’s Toronto Film Festival round-up makes me salivate. I hope that Landmark Cinemas get their act together as the fall film season heats up and gets some interesting titles here in Philly.
- I need to rededicate myself to Keri Hilson appreciation.
- I’m afraid this Hipster Runoff post on the future of music criticism is a little too on the nose.
- ReadWriteWeb declares the era of “walled gardens” over. What’s Facebook again?
- I think Helen and I need to take a serious ghost tour this October. Can anyone recommend one?
Hipster Runoff is freaking genius. And I really hate to say that.
When you get a good ghost tour scheduled, let us know!
I like this look! It’s very clean, and easy to get to the meat…Come visit whenever you like Amigo!
