But it was, like, from the future! Because I used my iPhone! Tony Luke’s never tasted so good at Citizens Bank Park. And then I wrote about that experience for the 700 level.

I Want to Like Kenny Powers
But I can’t help but feel like it’s a baseball-centric Entourage, with Johnny Drama in the lead role.
Having said that, I enjoyed Eastbound and Down this morning. Stayed up way too late watching TV last night. Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and Eastbound and Down in one night? How am I supposed to catch up on Bored to Death? Do people still watch that? Or is that borne of an Anderson guilt complex in me, whereby I really want to like anything that reads as an homage to Truffaut?
Also, can someone explain to me why the Boardwalk Empire intro is like Deadliest Catch, but with bottles instead of crabs?
In Praise of Boardwalk Empire
If this show is the closest we ever get to an actual conclusion to Deadwood, I’ll take it. I’ve watched the pilot episode three times!
One knock: could they at least pretend to know how a Philadelphian talks? Buscemi will do Buscemi, but no one in the cast sounds like they’re from Philly at all. Didn’t “The Wire” teach anyone the importance of local dialect?
Where Did the Summer Go?
Can’t believe I’ll be going to my final regular season game at the ballpark Friday night. Feels like it wasn’t that long ago that I was sitting with my family in Nationals Park, watching Roy Halladay make his Phillies’ debut. I love the MLB postseason, but it’s come to mean an end to so many fun things, like going to the ballpark or to the beach or just having a picnic in the park.
This summer was busy and fun. Charlie turned one and we threw a wonderful party in Fairmount Park. He’s grown so much since then. He’s gotten his first teeth. He runs like crazy. He’s even started saying words and imitating Helen and me. It’s been a joy to play with him as he makes the leap from infant to toddler.
Sure, the heat was at times oppressive. I’m clearly blocking that from memory, thanks to a few weeks of cool September air and refreshing breezes. Our vacation was perfect and we’ve had lovely weather and good excuses to get outside lately. It’s going to be sad to put Charlie’s brand new bike away for the season.
Bring Your A’s Game Blog
Version 1.0 has launched! Thanks to my man Tim Quirino for helping get it off the ground. He’s going to be working with me on it as we flesh it out into a Facebook-enabled beast of a blog.
The real question: What sort of stuff should I put on there? I posted about our first event, but I’m wondering what sort of content makes the most sense for it. I’m thinking a mix of A’s history, plus discussion about why I want the A’s to move back to town would make sense. What do you think?
