  • MARATHON TRAINING UPDATE: EXTREME MILEAGE EDITION

When my right ankle ballooned three weeks ago, I thought my marathon training was over. I knew that the doctors would recommend that I rest and take anti-inflammatories, which I did, but I never expected it to work to the degree it has. Sometimes it’s great to be surprised, eh? After running the Philadelphia Distance…

  • BMIML NEWS AND NOTES

A few quick updates in the my post-run haze: I’ve been notified that my favorite affordable eatery in New York City, Burritoville, has closed unceremoniously. • I RAN A HALF MARATHON

I ran the Philadelphia Distance Run yesterday. I finished in 1:44:38, negative-splitting from the 10K point forward. I finished at a 7:59 mile pace! My Nike Plus Sportband alleges that I still haven’t finished. The Philadelphia Distance Run fell at the halfway point between the official start of my training and the Philadelphia Marathon. I…

Solange was the big highlight for me. She played five songs, including “Sandcastle Disco” and “I Decided.” Her band was great, the backup singers were really fun…

  • MOVE TO TRASH: THE STREETS — “EVERYTHING IS BORROWED”

I’m going to start “Move to Trash” as a recurring feature for new albums that are big letdowns. First up? The Streets’ latest album, Everything Is Borrowed. As I commented on Stereogum’s Premature Evaluation post, fame has not been kind to Mike Skinner. Like his last album, The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living,…
