You can bet that I’ll be getting this framed in an 8x10.
Thanks for a great season, guys! We’re going to miss you, Pat, warts and all.

If you were too young to remember when the Phillies last won the World Series (this writer was three), this was our chance to have championship memories of our own.
I watched the game at Memphis Taproom, where we toasted the Phils win with Brendan and Leigh with Westvleteren, some of the hardest beers to find in the world, made by the clergy at the St. Sixtus Monastary in Belgium. Then we chanted, “Holy shit!”
From there I ran (literally) to Johnny Brenda’s, where I met up with friends. After celebrating at Girard and Frankford, we drove south, met another friend at Broad and Wharton, and marched to Broad and Shunk, the epicenter of so much Philly sports history. You can see the crowd that gathered there in the picture above.
It was a great night to be in Philadelphia and a great night to be a Philadelphian. Way to go, Phils! Let’s do it again next year!
I will write more about last night’s game later. I’m pretty sure everyone was chanting “27 outs” as we descended into the Broad St. subway after the game.

Helen and I were afraid that tonight’s game might get rained out, which would’ve meant that she would miss Game 4 because she’s leaving for San Diego on business Monday.
When it was clear that they were going to play tonight no matter what, crafty lefty Jamie Moyer became the focus of our anxiety. Would he turn in a performance like he has in his last two postseason starts?
Nope.
Moyer’s pitched a gem into the seventh. Ruiz, Utley, and Howard have homered and the Phils lead 4–3 at the moment. Let’s hope they can hold on for the win!

I need to walk around the corner sometime soon and try one of these. Leave it to Lew to tell me something that I didn’t know was happening in my own backyard!
(By the way, I’m writing this via WordPress’s “Press This” bookmarklet. I’ve already admonished them about its shortcomings via Twitter. They’ve let me know that they have more in store for this feature. I’m hoping that they’ll unleash a Tumblr-esque bookmarklet that lets me go wild!)
